Things to do in Worcestershire in May
When you are enjoying a glamping stay on our farm in May, what is going on locally in Worcestershire for you to head out to visit?
Here are our top 5 things to do in and around Worcester & Worcestershire in May. Our glamping site on the edge of Worcester is a perfect base for couples and families to enjoy the wider area from for days out around the West Midlands.
- Visit the bluebells on the Malvern Hills
We love visiting the Malvern hills for a walk at any time of year, but if you are glamping with us in early May, a walk up the Malverns is essential to see the bluebells: head over to Jubliee Drive by British Camp and you will find a blanket of purple – it is absolutely stunning!
A mini family photo session in amongst the bluebells at the beginning of May on the Malvern Hills is a must. Here I am with my little clan.
2. Marvel at beautiful flowers at the RHS Malvern Spring Show
If you like flowers & gardening then a visit to the Malvern Spring flower show is a must if you glamp with us during the second full weekend of May. This year the festival is open to the public from Friday 9th May until Sunday 11th May and I am sure it id going to be as fabulous as always.
Enjoy wonderful show gardens, educational talks, and enjoy delicious locally sourced Worcester produced food & drink: the Beefy Boys, Bennetts Ice Cream (made using milk from our own cows!) and a local cider are essentials!
The Malvern Showground is only a 15 minute drive from our yurts on the edge of Worcester, so its easy to get to. Find out what else they have going on at the Malvern Showground here.
3. Test your tastebuds at the Eastnor Castle Chilli Festival
If you enjoy spicy food, or like to take on a food based challenge, then a trip over to Eastnor Castle for the Chilli Festival comes highly recommended. This year it is being held during the first May bank holiday, and you can find out more & book your tickets here.
Eastnor Castle is only about a 25 minute drive away from our glamping paddocks, so its a very easy daytip to make just over the Malvern Hills from us on the edge of Herefordshire
4. Kayak down the River Severn from Bridgnorth to Arley via the Severn Valley Railway
The Severn Valley Railway is a brilliant day out for the whole family, but why not make your return trip even more of an adventure? May is a great time of year to enjoy this, and what a great treat for the kids during half term?
You can take the Severn Vally Railway train up to Bridgnorth and then Kayak back down the river! River Severn Canoes are a company that organise kayak trips and you can find out about them here.
5. See what events are going on at our farm cafe, Bennetts Willow Barn
Our farm cafe, right next door to our glamping paddocks, always has lots of events running in May. Coming up soon for example is the Greek street food pop up night with Eat Greek on Friday 2nd May and the Family Fun Day with bouncy castle on Monday 26th May, the bank holiday Monday.
Our farm cafe is dog friendly and family friendly, and is open every day from 9:30am until 3:30pm. But do visit the What’s On page of the website to find out excatly what events we have planned.
You wouldn’t even need to leave the farm for some family friendly entertainment!
